Local High School Students Visit the Perlan 2 Glider
On September 14 and 16 Perlan Project hosted several classes of local high school age students from El Calafate. Previously Perlan Project had gone to the classrooms. Now they came to the hangar. This was organized by Liz Kennick, president of Teachers in Space. She was assisted by Miguel Iturmendi, bilingual Perlan test pilot, and Alec Guay, college Intern responsible for CubeSat logistics.
Dario Filmeni brought 15 teenage students to visit. Liz Skyped Teacher in Space Jim Kuhl's class in the US so the students 10,000 kilometers apart could communicate with each other. Miguel showed them the glider in small groups and described the entire process. Two days later we hosted 60 students with the same procedures. The adults seemed to have as much fun as the students. There was inquiry about submitting a CubeSat experiment for next season. And from both classrooms came inspired drawings of Perlan 2. Airbus interviewed the local student engineer artist on camera.
